Staff Shepherd

Description

The Staff Shepherd supports the ministry of Muskoka Bible Centre by making a positive and lasting impact on the Immerse Student Discipleship participants. Primary responsibility rests in spiritual care for 30 - 40 Spring Crew students (May - June) and 100+ Summer Students (July - August) at both Widjiitiwin (camp) and summer ministry (conference). This includes responsibility to manage the Mentorship Program, help counsel, and to steward the discipleship opportunity for some 125 individuals through the summer. 

Position

  • Late April - Early September
  • Full Time, Seasonal

Discipleship of Immerse Staff

  • Prepare curriculum schedules for spiritual formation as well as community living learning modules (e.g. conflict resolution, etc.)
  • Develop the leadership for Bible study (department leaders, Section heads, etc.) to ensure a consistent and effective experience.
  • Develop effective communication channels for youth living in community (social media, texting, bulletin boards, etc.)
  • Manage health and safety priorities including management of medication, dorm cleanliness, illness, lice, injuries, etc.
  • Work with the Immerse Leadership Team to develop healthy, engaging discipleship programs. 

Leadership Development

  • Connecting Immerse Students to mentors on MBC property and give support to the mentors.
  • Give feedback and updates to the Program Director: Discipleship during weekly touch base meetings during the summer.
  • Regular check-in meetings with key leaders/potential leaders to accelerate growth in leadership development.
  • Initiate development of and relationships with team members throughout the summer to develop strong, prepared leaders to send back to their churches for the rest of the year.

Family Impact

  • Organize connecting times with parents on student arrival, departure, etc. (e.g. parent orientation sessions, etc.)
  • Keep short accounts with parents on key issues affecting their child’s experience.
  • Develop seminars/resources for parents (parents of students but also other MBC guests) as part of the Resilient Family Vision Framework.

Education

  • Youth ministry training is an asset
  • Bible college/seminary training is an asset
  • Mental Health / Counseling training is an asset
  • Management/Leadership training

Experience

  • Working with youth, camp ministry, church ministry, etc.
  • Leadership – planning, oversight of programming, etc.

Compensation

$19.50 per hour
